Hour 9, 4pm-5pm: The Bear missed last week's episode, but caught it on tape, so we won't miss any of the mounting body count. And during this hour, Jack Bauer added significantly to the numbers.
If you remember from the previous episode, Nina got the lowdown on where the L.A. nuke is stashed. She kills the captive who passed her the info, and now she's using it for leverage to buy her way to some additional immunity. The plane (shot with some kind of ground-to-air missle, as we learn in this week's episode) crashes down in the boondocks. Jack and Nina survive; Bauer calls CTU a a search and rescue.
But before the posse arrives, a platoon of other unidentified military-types appear at the crash site; seconds later they begin killing any the survivors they find. Jack and Nina break for it, but not without having to lay down some fire.
Tracking the Bauer body count: Jack takes out the first one using a flare gun from the plane. Possibly another two right after that, off camera. Then he gets Nina to work recon spotting, and he takes out two more, and possibly another two as well, according to his apparent targetting. Count for this episode adds 3-7. (The exact count is a bit unclear, but to help simplify matters we'll assume he kills everyone he hits.) Playing it conservative, we'll call it 3.
