Creating Fuels from Greenhouse Gas: A scientist at Tokushima Industrial Technology Center in Japan has demonstrated a process for turning CO2 gas into hydrocarbon fuel. Hydrocloric acid is the hydrogen source, iron is the catalyst. The process takes place under high pressure and relatively low heat. Improved hydrogenation could possibly produce liquid petroleum fuel -- from recycled CO2. [New Scientist via John Robb's Radio Weblog]
