'Slammer' Internet Worm Slams Microsoft Too: Microsoft Corporation's own servers were plagued by the rogue replicating virus that slowed parts of the Internet to a crawl this past week. The program attacked vulnerabilities in Microsoft's "SQL 2000 Server" database application. A security patch has been available since April, but apparently it is so difficult to implement that even Microsoft failed to install the update on many of its own servers.
